Heating technology components

The advantages of gray cast iron for heating technology products have been used for boilers for decades.
Due to the further development of casting processes, the trend is towards integrated functional components made of cast iron.
These combine hydraulic functions in the heating circuit, compact design and low costs.

We are happy to support our customers in the implementation of innovative solutions made of gray cast iron, from the design of the part to the selection and procurement of assembly components such as pumps, valves, ball valves, etc. through to the ready-to-ship assembly and packaging of the products.

Range of applications for gray cast iron in heating technology

The classic range of applications for gray cast iron are boilers for oil, gas or solid fuel heating systems.
Thanks to innovations in casting technology, complex geometries with thin-walled components and functional integrations can be implemented in a cast part, significantly expanding the range of applications.

This includes the following product groups, among others:

  • Heating technology accessories: manifolds, hydraulic separators, pump groups, integrated connection sets for individual heating appliances, cascades, etc.
  • Heat pumps: Safety group for brine lines, integrated system hydraulics from a single cast, vibration and noise-damping compressor base plates, etc.
  • Gas and oil heating systems: Burner doors, boilers, safety groups, vent tanks, etc.
  • Solid fuel heating systems: Pellet conveying units, fan housings, return flow holding systems, rotary valves, etc.

The plus for cast iron for heating technology

Due to its physical properties, gray cast iron is ideally suited for use in heating technology.
Products made of gray cast iron have high thermal conductivity and are highly vibration-damping.
In addition, corrosion resistance for heating water or brine water as well as a drinking water feed-through can be achieved by coating.

Cast parts also offer a high degree of design freedom: complete functional groups (e.g. pumps, valves, strainers, hydraulic separators, ball valves, plate heat exchangers, etc.) can be combined in one cast part.
The integrated cast parts are compact and can be easily integrated into our customers’ installation processes or simply installed and connected by heating engineers.

In addition, gray cast iron is a very cost-efficient material to manufacture, as the material costs are significantly lower than for gunmetal and pattern costs are significantly lower than the expected costs for die casting.

Implementation of product solutions for heating technology

We support the implementation of casting solutions from the very first idea.
By presenting reference products and analyzing customers’ current constructions, we identify areas of application for grey cast iron together with our customers.
Together with our customers, we identify fields of application for gray cast iron.

With the use of the latest design software and simulation software, we are happy to support you in the development of your products.
We transfer your current design (e.g. pre-pipe, welded design) etc. into a cast design.

We also support our customers in the procurement of assembly components via our supplier network.
To this end, our product managers work closely with customers from the heating technology sector.
We are happy to produce 3D-printed prototypes for our customers in order to test the usability of the real part.
